Q. What was it like to have to maintain very high grades in school and be a promising football player at the same time? A. It's all about time management. I never felt like I had to totally concentrate on one area. I divided it 50-50. 50% academics and 50% athletics. Whatever area I was working on at the time there was 100% effort. So, that's how I looked at it.
Q. If you were to give any advice about being a high-school or college athlete and at the same time maintain good grades what would it be? A. It's about being the best at everything you do. Too many times we think success is just about athletics, but success is in all areas of life. To me it's cool to be the best at everything you try, everything you do. So, if I'm on the football field I am trying to be the best I can be. If I'm in the classroom, im trying to be the best that I can be. If I'm with my friends, my family I try to be the best I can be. It's all about being the best.
Q. How old were you when you went out on your first date? A. I was in 8th grade. We went to a movie? 'Sleeping With the Enemy' with Julia Roberts.
Q. You are one of the hardest working athletes in all of sports. How hard was it to get focused and work as hard as you have? A. Well, if you love what you do, it's not hard. It's simple, but it's not easy. There's a difference between being simple and being easy. Success is hard to achieve, but there are simple formulas to achieve that success and if you love what you do it's very easy to work hard at it. I always took pride in working when nobody else would. When guys wanted to take a day off or skip workouts or practice I always felt that's the time when you can really get better cause you're working and they're not.
Q. What was the funniest thing that has happened in your sports career. It can be something that happened to you or a teammate. A.I was a junior in high school and I was playing high school basketball. The week of practice I dunked it for the first time, so in the game I told myself if I could get a steal or a breakaway I was going to try and dunk it. So, I was at the top of the key and I went down to dunk it. I am a left-footed jumper, I can't jump high off two feet. And in practice I dunked it off one foot, but in the game I felt more comfortable so I tried to jump off two feet and dunk it, and I got up and realized I wasn't high enough so I grabbed onto the net and tried to slam it and missed it. And then I fouled and the coach took me out of the game.
Q. What was it like to quarterback Randy Moss? A. It was a lot of fun. You always knew what type of athlete Randy was and you knew what type of competitor he was. As a quarterback I was always very confident because I had Randy on my side.
Q. What kind of music do you listen to? Who is your favorite artist? A.I listen to country music and my favorite artist is Kenny Chesney.
Q. What has been the best moment of your career so far? A. I would say the best moment of my NFL career was the win versus the Greenbay Packers in 2002 to clinch the AFC East Division and to go to the playoffs.
