Check out David Weismann interview with former NY Yankees hero Aaron Boone

Q: Who was your favorite baseball player when you were growing up?
A: I have a lot, but I would have to go with Bake McBride.

Q: Was there any pressure on you to play baseball since your father, grandfather and brother played?
A: No. I played football, basketball and baseball all through high school and then baseball is the one they kept letting me play, so here I am.

Q: Since Brett is your older brother, did you ever look to him for advice?
A: I definitely looked up to him. I have a great relationship with him, and he was an awesome older brother in that he drove me places with him all of the time. I think as a younger brother (he's four years older than me), you always look up and try in some ways to emulate him. But, we are very different also.

Q: What was it like to play with your brother on the Reds?
A:  Awesome. For me, breaking into the big leagues and having a brother that was already there and established, it was a lot of fun. I became the starting third baseman while he was still there, so that was pretty cool to play together in the same infield.

Q: Which pitchers have been the hardest for you to hit?
A: Al Leiter back in the day, I didn’t like. Ben Sheets has been a nemesis for me. I haven’t faced C.C. a lot, but I don’t like that either. He's a good friend; I played with him, so that was better that he got on my team. Al Leiter and Ben Sheets stick out. I haven’t done very well against them, but I do have a homer off Al Leiter-- that’s about my only hit though.

Q: Which team have you enjoyed playing for the most?
A: The Reds-- that’s who I came up with, grew up with and had my best years with.

Q: Take us through that ALCS game against the Red Sox. What was going through your mind before you got up and then right after you made contact with the ball?
A: Actually, before I came up, I was running off the field at the end of the inning, knowing that I was leading off the next inning. Mo had another "Mo-ed them down," pardon the pun. I remember thinking I was going to do something. I didn’t necessarily think home run-- I just thought I was going to do something good here. As far as what I was feeling after hitting it, it is all a big blur. I can't recall it real clearly. I just floated around the bases. I learned more from seeing it on TV than I do remembering it.

Q: Do you collect memorabilia?
A: Yes, I collect football helmets and 8 by 10's of my buddies in the League. I am a huge USC football fan, so I have Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart jerseys and their helmets. I have a Donovan McNabb helmet. I am an Eagles fan too. I just like helmets; I think that they are all pretty cool.

Q: What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
A: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.
