Q. Who was your favorite player growing up?
A. Probably Pete Rose or Tony Perez. The Rig Red Machine, the great Reds, had their spring training in Tampa, and we didn't have a professional team in Tampa, so we watched them. They were kind of our team, so we watched those guys win championships throughout the years.
Q. What is the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you?
On the baseball field, I'd say either dropping a popup or letting a ball go through my legs. There is no reason the ball should go through your legs in baseball especially being a first basemen, so when that happens it is really embarrassing.
Q. Who was your funniest teammate?
Tim Raines. Tim Raines was always the funniest guy in the clubhouse and always kept the team loose.
Q. How hard is it going through your first year not playing baseball?
It hasn't been bad. I just felt like it was time for me to retire. I was getting tired last season, towards the end of the year, and I was ready to retire. I wasn't playing as well as I wanted to. It has been nice and relaxing this summer.
Q. What is it like to win a World Series?
Well, it is everybody's dream as a Major League baseball player. You focus to maybe win one in your career, so winning four has been an unbelievable experience and probably the highlight of my career.
Q. Which pitcher was the hardest to get a hit off of?
Roger Clemens
Q. Is there one at bat that is the most memorable in your career?
I would say the World Series homerun, the one off of Byung-Hyun Kim against the Diaomond Backs.
Q. If you could choose one person to meet who would it be?
John F. Kennedy.
Q. What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Rocky Road
